Vineyard Streetball Classic, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit serving the Marthas Vineyard and Metro Atlanta area’s to promote exercise, improve, and build basketball court play areas, by hosting annual basketball tournaments and educational programs.

History
Since 2002, the Vineyard Streetball Classic, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, has taken place each year on July 4 Weekend at Niantic Park in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard.

During the annual tournament, students age 9 to 18 from across the northeast showcase their athletic talents in an environment of positive recreational competition. Each team of three to five players battles through a series of double-elimination rounds with the top teams in each division receiving trophies at the end of the day.

The director, staff, and volunteers of the Vineyard Streetball Classic tournament have lifelong ties to the island community, having grown up at the Niantic Park courts and summer league programs. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament benefits the Oak Bluffs Parks Department summer basketball programs.

Mission
The mission of the Vineyard Streetball Classic,Inc. is to create,develop,and provide a basketball facility to advance youth basketball in our community.

Vision
Involve entire families and communities in the mission by staging annual basketball tournaments in recreational park setting across the country. Encourage youth to participate by playing basketball at our tournaments and to learn about the importance of good health & exercise. Initiate community partnerships with non-for profit organizations to assist in the education and promotion of exercise, and an active healthy lifestyle among our youth and the community.

Values
Healthy habits should be learned early in life. Childhood obesity is a growing concern.
Exposure to athletic competition promotes an active lifestyle among children.
A functional park environment is essential to teaching exercise and active lifestyles.
Families and communities are strengthened through partnerships to promote health and wellness among children.
Goal
Expand the Streetball Classic to other recreational park locations on the east coast. Begin by adding an Atlanta area tournament in the fall of 2013. Winners of all our tournaments will be rewarded with participation in our annual Vineyard Streetball Classic tournament on Martha’s Vineyard on the weekend of July 4th.
